Supervisor report – Skip Radosevich reported he stopped down at the shop to check on things and found a few birds inside the garage so he let them out.
Kathy Johanik reported all equipment is running good except for Kelly truck. Randy is going to fix it himself saving the town a lot of money. The problem is the underbody blade. When you pull it up it doesn’t want to go down. Monday George went out cutting roadsides. Randy went out grading trying to fix some roads, waiting for rain.
Clerk report – Working on getting everything ready for the upcoming election.
Old business – None.
New business – Amanda Tutor with the School District of Ashland spoke regarding the referendum on the upcoming November 5, 2024, election ballot. They are asking for $2 million nonrecurring for 5 years starting next tax season. Currently Ashland receives $11,325 funding per pupil. This would be a 10.6% property value increase in the Town of Eileen.
Budget meeting is set on the same date as the next regular meeting in November. The November regular meeting is being rescheduled for Monday, November 11, 2024, at 6 p.m. with the budget meeting directly following.
Snowplow contracts have not changed fees for this year and are due November 15th. These can be found in an envelope at the town garage outside the building or available on our website in the News section with a direct link you can download or print out.
Street sign has been ordered for “Art Hanson Road” to be put up replacing “Art Hanson Lane” currently. Need new name ideas for “Erkkila Road”, as there is already a road with that name in the county, and there cannot be two with the same name in a county. Some ideas are to simply change it to Erkkila Lane or use last names of current residents living on the road.
Fire and ambulance still looking at hiring 6 EMTs, public listening session/town hall meeting Friday, October 11th at 6 p.m. in Washburn.
Public Input: Question regarding chip sealing that has been done in the township already, and the work that has been done on the Colby Road bridge. Report of the hole that existed by the bridge that again needs to be looked at and repaired if possible.
