Review of minutes from Tuesday, August 12, 2025, regular meeting.
A motion to accept the August 12, 2025, meeting minutes was made by Kathy Johanik, Skip Radosevich seconded the motion. Motion carried.
Treasurer report – Carol Pufall, Town Treasurer, gave an overview of the town’s finances. Checking account is $130,177.99. Money market account is $26, 675.48. We should be receiving Transportation Aid and Shared Revenue checks in the upcoming months.
Supervisor report – Skip Radosevich reported receiving some comments regarding the old Town of Eileen truck that was sold to Luke Schraufnagel still having the T.O.E. sticker on it and being seen in the City of Ashland. Wondering if this needs to be addressed to have Luke take off the T.O.E. decal. Zifko Gas was also out to top off the tanks and tar machine with fuel. George was out mowing and a light came on so brought it to Lulich to have it looked at and it was okay.
Kathy Johanik reported equipment is all running good. George was out cutting and is about half done. Randy has been out fixing washouts on roads.
Clerk report – Clerk and Chief Inspector training was canceled for this Monday and rescheduled to October for Shannon and Kathy. James Sajdak would like to borrow tables/chairs for this weekend. Kathy agreed to open the town hall for him on Friday morning.
Old business – Marty asked Zoning regarding permits and why the township has not been receiving them before approval, only sent copies after the fact, as they are being sent directly to Zoning and then the township gets a copy. They are looking at changing this back to get first approval through the township before Zoning as part of their new rewrite happening now.
A township resident is looking at building on Hwy 137 and wanting to split land to smaller 2 or so acre parcel instead of the 4 acres needed by Zoning. Zoning is asking for the township to have a discussion for approval for the splitting of and use of smaller plot.
The township will not be raising prices on upcoming snowplowing contracts for 2025/2026. These will stay the same rate as previous. Clerk will update the contract on our website and new contracts will be printed and left at the town garage in an envelope outside on the posting board for residents.
New business – None.
Public Input: Greg Hebert commented that Sajdak Road is now done and they did a nice job except for the whole road is now all scratched up from the grader when they finished the shoulders and the rest of the residents on the road are upset and wondering if anything can be done. Marty will call Scott to see if anything can be done. Marty will also be calling him regarding getting a bid for Highland and Colby Roads for possible LRIP program funding the near future.
Mason Niemi asked who cuts the sides of Hwy 137 as it is really bad and has not been kept up. Marty stated this is handled by Bayfield County/State, not the township.
Approve checks and pay bills – motion made by Skip Radosevich, seconded by Kathy Johanik. Motion carried.
Motion to adjourn – motion made by Kathy Johanik, seconded by Skip Radosevich. Motion carried.
